Pioneer Bridges the Gap Between Computer Jocks And CD Jocks with the New CDJ-400 Digital Turntable

SF Marketing Inc. is pleased to announce that Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., the leader in ProDJ products and the innovator of the CD turntable, has unveiled the latest addition to its family of CD turntables, the CDJ-400. The CDJ-400 combines a sampling of features found in the different levels of Pioneer’s CDJ series with the simplicity of a standard CD turntable, including USB1 integration and MP3 playback, MIDI support, scratching capability, scratch jog effect and a variety of looping functions. The CDJ-400 will be available in January 2008 with an MSRP of $785.

“Pioneer is making it easy to get more control of digital music mixing by developing products like the CDJ-400,” said Mark MacLellan, Product Manager for Pioneer at SF Marketing Inc. “We’re excited to add the CDJ-400 to our always growing list of Pioneer products as this player is very affordable for DJs. The CDJ-400 is packed with features that are ideal for different levels of DJs, from the ‘newbies’ to the professional DJs who want to better manipulate their DJ computer software.”

A highlight and an advancement of the CDJ-400 is its scratching capability. In addition to traditional “vinyl” mode scratching, Pioneer implemented the World’s First Scratch Jog Effect. Three highlighted buttons, each assigned to a special effect, Bubble, Trans and Wah, creates unique scratching sound effects that can be enabled by the DJ on the fly.

The CDJ-400’s cosmetic design is simple and compact yet elegant with all of its various controls and features located directly on top of the unit. A USB port found on the face of the player allows DJs to play their MP3 music collection from a wide variety of portable music devices.

With more of today’s DJs utilizing different DJ software for their performances, the CDJ-400 is also equipped with a PC mode. In this mode, the CDJ-400 is a native controller for software such as PCDJ and SERATO® Scratch LIVE3.

NEW GENERATION PIONEER DIGITAL TURNTABLE PROVIDES MORE CONTROL AND BETTER MIXING CAPABILITIES
CDJ-1000MK3 refined with new features including MP3 capability

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. introduced the CDJ-1000MK3, a new generation of high-end digital turntables that puts more control into the hands of DJs. Step-up features include jog feel adjustments, hot looping / re-looping, improved track and wave data display and MP3 compressed audio playback, providing DJs enhanced mixing and scratching capability to sharpen their craft. Suggestions from previous generation CDJ owners were taken into account in developing the new turntables, to add better feel, precision and performance. DJs will find the Pioneer CDJ products to feel as close to a vinyl turntable with the great benefits of a digital player.

“The input we received from leading DJs who used the previous CDJ models helped in the development of the next generation products,” said Karl Detken, product planning director for DJ products for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Adding MP3 playback to the CDJ-1000MK3 was a natural progression based on the growing use of MP3s. MP3 adds convenience and immediacy, making it easier for DJs to transport and access their music.”

CDJ-1000MK3

Club owners and DJs will appreciate the robust build of the CDJ-1000MK3, with its familiar high-quality polished look and clean layout. The new features make it easier to transport music as well as simplify cueing, looping, scratching and stretching of tracks.

  • MP3 Capability – The player accepts playback of MP3 music including VBR files. A direct folder search button was added to allow DJs quick access to files within folders on an MP3 disc.
  • JOG Wheel Feeling Adjust – The CDJ-1000MK3 includes a unique JOG feeling adjust letting DJs modify the resistance of the non-slip metallic jog wheel to meet individual styles. The wide tempo range (+100% to –100% with CDDA and +70% to 100% with MP3) also gives greater control.
  • Multicolor Fluorescent Display - The display on the wheel was improved with a brighter, fluorescent display for quick visuals to music information. The larger cue marker and angle marks make it easier for scratch DJs to time their effects. The track display area was doubled in resolution to accommodate WAVE data and playing address details so users can see a track’s entire length at a glance.
  • Hot Loop / Hot Cue Button – The player utilizes a single button to perform hot loop and hot cue storage, holding up to three loops per track. Orange and green illumination differentiate hot loop and hot cue tasks.
  • Resume Play – A resume play feature starts the disc at the exact time a CD is ejected eliminating the need to start playback from the beginning of a disc. The feature is especially helpful when a CD is ejected accidentally.
  • Gold RCA Connectors – Ensuring the highest level of sonic purity, the players use gold RCA connectors to minimize audio signal resistance.

TWO-CHANNEL 96 KhZ/24 BIT MIXER OFFERS WORLD’S FIRST IN-LOOP SAMPLER
DJM-400 Offers Perfect Match for Pioneer’s CDJ Turntables

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. introduced a new two-channel mixer with the world’s first in-loop sampler and provided demonstrations at the NAMM show at the Anaheim Convention Center. The new mixer matches Pioneer’s CDJ-200 CD turntable in both function and design, allowing DJs to expand the range of DJing and remixing. Its new symmetrical design is the same size as a CDJ-200 enabling an easy fit in a compact DJ coffin.

World’s First In-Loop Sampler
An intelligent 96kHz/24bit sampler automatically detects the tempo of a song during playback, sampling it for a length of 4 beats; then loops the sample. Since the sampled sound is in sync with the beat of the tune being played, no matter the tempo, it enables live remixing like never before. Samples are automatically stretched and compressed to match the beat. The DJM-400 will store five samples onboard.

“The combination of the new DJM-400 with the CDJ-200 is a great combination for pro DJs looking for a great entry-level system,” said Karl Detken, director of product planning for Pro DJ products at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “It offers the reliability, a wide range of features, and the high quality audio for which Pioneer products are known.”

Onboard Effects and Equalization
Onboard effects automatically detect the beats per minute of the music and sync to the beats. The DJM-400 includes seven onboard effects: Delay, Echo, Filter, Flanger, Phaser, Robot and Roll. All effects are processed at 24bits for the highest quality sound. A new Beat Select button allows more intuitive and aggressive DJ playing and remixing.

Each channel has a 3-band isolator EQ with full cut capability. The EQ ranges from +9dB to -∞ (infinity) for total control of the sound.

The DJM-400 offers a number of key features for a professional DJ, including:

  • The ability to select either of two microphone connections or one stereo line connection;
  • A fader start so playback can be started by simply sliding the cross fader or channel fader when connected to a Pioneer CDJ product;
  • A peak level meter so the DJ can check audio input levels for each channel or for the master;
  • A Talk Over feature that automatically lowers track volume for the DJ to speak over the track.

Pioneer offers a complete line of Pro DJ Equipment through its Pro Audio Group. Its DJM series of mixers have become an industry standard at clubs, studios, mobile rigs and homes around the world, known for their high quality sound and reliability.

PIONEER’S DJM-800 IS WORLD’S FIRST 96KHZ/24 BIT MIXER THAT CAN HARMONICALLY MIX AND REMIX USING SOUND COLOR EFFECTS

The DJM-800 mixer introduced at NAMM by Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. gives professional DJs the tool they need to expand their musical horizon, with capabilities for mixing records, remixing, producing and performing. Pioneer’s DJ mixers have a reputation for providing high quality audio and reliability. The new DJM-800 incorporates features recommended by many professional DJs and club engineers, raising the bar on sound fidelity and ease of mixer operation. Most important are its high quality 96kHz/24 bit sampling and harmonic mixing capabilities.

High Quality Audio
The analog signal from the player passes through the shortest signal route, first digitized at 96kHz / 24bit through a pro A/D converter where it reaches the digital mixing stage with the best sound possible. The mixing is carried out by 32bit DSP with minimal deterioration of sound quality. A highly rigid chassis minimizes unnecessary vibration, which could adversely affect sound quality. The mixer also incorporates a dual-shield structure for eliminating entry of digital noise and a high performance power supply for noise-free power.

Sound Color Effects For A New Style of DJ Mixing
The world’s first DJ mixer with Auto Harmonic Tuning detects the key of song and automatically corrects it to the closest true key. In music theory terms, when a DJ raises the pitch of a song in the key of C by three percent, the song is no longer in the key of C, but somewhere between C and C sharp. This makes it impossible to perform a perfect harmonic mix. Pioneer’s new Harmonic Tuning feature takes the key of the source audio and adjusts the pitch until it is that of a standard note.

Of course a DJ still has to know some basics about music, such as which keys match, in order to pull off an acoustically perfect harmonic mix. World class DJs currently spend thousands of hours learning the keys of their music and re-mastering their library to be in “perfect pitch”. Now the DJM-800 makes it easier to perform a “Harmonic Mix”.

“As the art of DJ mixing becomes more and more sophisticated, Pioneer raises the level of its equipment to provide the tools needed by today’s professionals,” said Karl Detken, director of product planning for Pro DJ products at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.

Effects
The DJM-800 incorporates a highpass / lowpass filter, notch filter and bit crusher effect for all channels. In conjunction with the additional Beat Effects, 50 combinations of effects are possible.

Higher quality effects at 24bits make for a cleaner sounding remix. The effects automatically detect the BPM of the music and sync to the beats. DJM-800 includes some familiar effects, plus some new ones: Echo, Delay, Reverse Delay, Pan, Transform, Filter, Flanger, Phaser, Reverb, Robot, Chorus, Roll and Reverse Roll.

Digital Input/Output terminals
Digital inputs and outputs allow for connection with other digital-capable equipment for a fully digital chain, without degradation of sound quality. The DJM-800 is not only ideal for the club professional but also great in a recording studio environment where high fidelity sound is required. Input frequencies of 44.1/48/96kHz are compatible; output frequency is selectable between 48/96kHz.

Fully Assignable MIDI function
There are a total of 61 assignable controls. The MIDI signal can be sent from almost all knobs and switches on the surface of the DJM-800 to external midi equipment. Since the mixer can send out many MIDI signals, it can be used as a flexible interface to music software or hardware such as Ableton Live or EDIROL V-4 Video Mixer .

Rotary Volume Knobs Available (optional )
The main volume fader knobs can be replaced with rotary volume knobs (DJC-800RV), which are especially valuable for extended mixing providing more subtlety and precision.

Numerous other features make the DJM-800 ideal for a sophisticated DJ:

  • Cross Fader Assign allows the DJ to assign each channel’s input to the cross fader.
  • Fader Curve Adjust allows the user to change the cross fader/channel fader curve.
  • When connected to a Pioneer CDJ player, the Fader Start allows playback to be started by simply sliding the cross fader or channel fader.
  • A built-in three-band equalizer enables level control within a –26dB to +6dB range for high, mid, low bands, respectively.
  • The Talk Over feature automatically lowers track volume so an MC can talk over the track.
  • The Mic Signal Cut eliminates the microphone sound output to the booth monitor to prevent feedback.
  • The DJ can check the peak level of the input audio for each channel and the master.

Pioneer offers a complete line of Pro DJ Equipment through its Pro Audio Group. Its DJM series of mixers have become an industry standard at clubs, studios, mobile rigs and homes around the world, known for their high quality sound and reliability.

DVJ-1000 combines audio performance of CDJ-1000 with the video power of DVJ-X1

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. yet again takes the DJ community by storm with the introduction of its next generation DVJ turntable, the DVJ-1000. Pioneer’s DVJ-1000 video turntable combines the function, operability and layout of the CDJ-1000, the most popular digital turntable in the market, with the revolutionary visual performance capability and power of the very first video turntable, the DVJ-X1

“Pioneer doesn’t follow the trends, it helps create them. Moving beyond audio, the DVJ-1000 enables DJ/VJs to create performances with sounds and visuals from DVD,” said Karl Detken, director of product planning for DJ products at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.
