PIONEER’S DJ EFFECTOR OFFERS INDUSTRY LEADING AUDIO QUALITY
EFX-1000 is First Effector to Offer 24-bit/96kHz Digital Sampling System

The new EFX-1000 effector offers discerning DJs the best audio quality possible with a 24-bit/96kHz digital-sampling system and 32-bit digital sound processing. The bypass function of the EFX-1000 enables the user to process the effects with their original high sound quality. Any serious club or studio DJ will immediately hear the impact of the increased processing power, which results in better audio quality in their mix. Pioneer’s EFX-1000 builds on the unique features in previous effectors by including a wide range of sound effects in an easy-to-manipulate system.

The EFX-1000 offers more than the usual range of sound effects, including: Delay, Echo, Pitch Echo, Trans, Flanger, Filter and Phaser. For the first time in the industry, this product enables the DJ to beat match in sync with a pre-programmed rhythm. Alternately, the EFX-1000 will measure beats per minute and beat match in sync with the tempo of the music. The user can select multiple frequency ranges (High, Mid, Low), vastly improving the musical expression compared with existing full-range effectors.

The large, easy-to-manipulate Digital Jog Break lets the user control sound effects including: Jet, Wah, Phase, Shifter Ring, Zip, Humanizer and Vocoder. The DJ can set a hold switch to maintain the sound effect, freeing up a hand. The Jog Memory Play memorizes and reproduces the dial’s movements either once or in a continuous loop. The balance of the effects as well as the depth of the original sound can also be modified.

”With its impressive range of powerful effects and features, the EFX-1000 gives DJs even more scope for creativity in their sets and studio work,” said Karl Detken, director of product planning for the Pro Audio group of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “The enhanced audio quality is particularly critical for the studio market as well as for those performers who can only have their name associated with the best.”

The EFX-1000 offers a range of other features, including:

  • Depth Knob to adjust the strength and depth of effects.
  • Character Knob to change the parameter of the effects.
  • Mix Knob to change the balance of the original sound and effected sound.
  • Signal Flow Switch to change the signal path of the sound. This allows the DJ to create 49 patterns of effects in combination with the Beat Effect and Digital Jog Break.
  • A Bypass Switch will directly output the input sound without other effects.
  • A Momentary On/Lock On Switch enables smooth transitions.
  • A Level MeterControl Knob easily adjusts the sound level.
  • An optional Foot Switch can turn effects on or off.

The EFX-1000 can be connected to other compatible musical instruments through a MIDI In/Out terminal. It can be connected with Pioneer’s CD or DVD mixers through a digital link connection. 06/05

PIONEER INTRODUCES PROFESSIONAL DJ MIXER

Pioneer Electronics Inc. introduces the DJM-1000 professional DJ mixer, which incorporates suggestions from world-renowned DJs resulting in a mixer with high quality audio, improved functionality and increased user-friendliness. The DJM-1000 uses Pioneer’s expertise in audio technology to create a high-end unit that is easily connected to other equipment like samplers, effectors and digital turntables, enabling professional DJs to put on the best show possible.

“We continue to see the growth in the DJ market and the need for creating professional products as well as innovative products,” said Karl Detken, director of product planning for professional audio products at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Pioneer remains committed to offering the high quality equipment demanded by professional DJs and clubs around the world. The DJM-1000 is an example of that commitment.”

Pioneer utilized its long heritage in audio technology to create a high quality sound design for the DJM-1000. This mixer has 24-bit/96kHz digital sampling and a 32-bit/96kHz digital sound processor. Analog signals from LP turntables are digitized with the high quality audio-to-digital converter and mixed without deterioration of the sound quality. The unit has a rigid chassis to minimize unwanted vibrations and a strong power supply to create clear, powerful sound.

The DJM-1000 has digital input-output terminals, making it compatible with Pioneer’s CDJ-1000Mk2 and DVJ series of digital turntables. It is also easily connected to a DJ effector or sampler to give greater variety to a DJ’s performance. It also can be used for studio recording where high quality sound is required.

Its three-band isolator allows the user to control the levels from +6dB to - ∞ dB in each band. It also can be used to attenuate and accent partial bands. A 17 phase fader curve allows the user to adjust not only the curves of the cross fader but also the curves of the channel fader.

The DJM-1000 incorporates several industry firsts:

  • A new Sound Link / EFX Link function is used to control other Pioneer equipment via a link cable.
  • A BPM Synchronize Function, which synchronizes the BPMs of all attached equipment such as CDJs and EFX.
  • A Visual Link Button that allows the user to control the visual effects and fades of other visual equipment (such as an Edirol V4) with the Pioneer cross fader.

The main fader volume control knob can be changed to a rotary knob for delicate sound volume control when mixing. An optional part (DJC-1000RV) is required to make this change, which can be completed in any of Pioneer’s authorized service centers.

Other features of the DJM-1000 include:

  • MIDI Out for operation of external equipment
  • Two Band Booth EQ for equalizing the booth monitor
  • Fader Start Play for CD player control on all six channels
  • Three Band Equalizer with Hi, Mid and Low settings in each channel to obtain dynamics of instrumental sound
  • Talk-Over Function , which will automatically turn down the volume level of the music when the microphone is in use
  • Peak Level Meter for all six channels to check source input levels 06/05

PIONEER VIDEO SWITCHER DESIGNED FOR DJs AND VJs
VSW-1 Video Switcher is Perfect Complement to DVJ-X1 DVD Turntable

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. announces its first video switcher specifically designed for DJs and VJs, helping them to meet the changing nightclub environment where great video content rivals the importance of great audio. Today’s youth, having grown up with constant visual stimulation from television, video games and the Internet, expect their entertainment to have both a video and audio component. To meet those demands, many traditional audio DJs are incorporating video into their acts. Pioneer’s DVJ-X1 digital video turntable is one of the tools Disc Jockeys are using to become Video Jockeys.

The VSW-1 video switcher can be used with Pioneer’s revolutionary DVJ-X1 to complete all of the video source switching. This eliminates the need for multiple independent devices or more than one DJ/VJ to operate the system.

The beauty of the VSW-1 is in its simplicity. The face of the unit has a red “Auto” button and two large illuminated buttons, styled after the Play / Cue buttons of the DVJ-X1. The switcher can be used to switch manually between video sources by pressing the corresponding button. The VSW-1 also gives the DJ/VJ more freedom and flexibility in the mix with the familiar faderstart capability found in many Pioneer Pro DJ mixers and players. The DJ/VJ can automatically switch video sources when using the faderstart on the audio mixer.

This video switcher accepts multiple video connections (component, composite and S-Video) in both PAL and NTSC formats, although the VSW-1 does not convert from one format or connection type to another for output. A Video Sync connection with the DVJ-X1 is used for a professional flicker-free video source transition. 04/05

NEWEST DJ TURNTABLE FROM PIONEER OFFERS .MP3 CAPABILITY
Stylish unit offers ultimate performance and multiple functions for DJs

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. offers “bedroom” DJs the opportunity to mix and scratch CDs with professional quality using its newest CDJ-200 entry-level CD turntable. The number of consumers who have taken up the art of spinning digital music continues to grow at a rapid pace, increasing the market for Pioneer’s digital CD decks. The CDJ-200 creates a new standard for entry-level/mid-range units, combining the key elements of Pioneer’s professional digital CD decks with a host of innovative features including: full-function .mp3 playback, Hot Loop, Beat Loop and the unique one button Loop Cutter, for creating loops within loops until the beat has been cut to infinity.

This technical excellence is complemented by a design that’s both visually stunning and supremely practical – the unit is robust, compact and portable – and a truly affordable price, making it the ideal choice for serious home DJs, bars and other installations where space (and budget) is limited.

Since the CDJ-200 is .mp3 compatible, aspiring DJs can now include the very latest downloaded tracks in their sets, without having to convert the audio from other formats. The .mp3 functionality also allows DJs to locate tracks more quickly (via Folder Search) and to see the name of the disc, artist and song on the unit’s bright dot-matrix display window. This screen also has a bar graph showing the elapsed and remaining playing time of a track, plus an Auto BPM Counter, giving DJs the real-time information they need to create better mixes more quickly. The unit has a tempo read-out as well as a separate Master Tempo button with three settings for locking the pitch of a track as it’s sped up or slowed down.

Lights, Action

The unit uses an electric-blue light at strategic locations to give the DJ constant feedback about the status of the CD and the effects in use. The light above the CD-slot, for example, shows that there’s no disc on board and also guides the DJ to the user-friendly quick-load slot. With the disc inserted, that light goes off and a blue illuminated ring appears around the edge of the Jog Wheel - indicating that a CD is loaded and ready for playback.

An established highlight of Pioneer’s Pro DJ CDJ players, the jog wheel can be used to speed up or slow down the music; to fine-tune cue points manually; or to control the mix with the help of another proven feature, the digital jog break. This has three effect buttons (Jet, Zip, Wah) for creating original sounds as the DJ manipulates the jog wheel. When the digital jog break is on, the blue ring flashes quickly. Once the HOLD/RESET button is used, the flashing slows down. With the effects off, the continuous blue light returns.

Newest DJ Turntable From Pioneer Offers .mp3 Capability

The CDJ-200 also has a unique Resume function that takes effect if a CD is ejected accidentally. Once the DJ re-inserts the disc, it automatically starts playing from exactly the point where it stopped. The unit has a digital out socket so that all of the digital features available in DJ Mode can be carried over to a connected digital environment. The headphone jack with volume control allows the DJ to monitor a CD without connecting the CDJ-200 to a mixer or external amplifier.

CDJ-200 Key Features:
Jog Wheel: The large 100mm jog wheel lets DJs speed up or slow down tracks and fine-tune loop points. DJs also can stop/cue up tracks with amazing precision (1/75 sec) and quickly search through a track by simply using the jog wheel or, in super fast mode, by holding down the manual search button at the same time.

  • Cue/Loop Memory: Cue or loop points can be saved to the deck’s internal memory, giving DJs the chance to instantly return to the cue point or loop at any time whilst the CD is playing.
  • Real Time Seamless Loop: The real time seamless loop allows DJs to set a loop on the fly, and adjust it using the jog wheel. It can then be looped continuously until the re-loop/exit button is used. Upon release, the track continues without pause.
  • Real Time Cue: DJs can press the In/Real Time Cue button to instantly save a cue point to the internal memory.
  • AutoCue: This automatically finds the first beat of a track, but can be turned off for manual cueing.
  • Manual Cue: Cue points can be set anywhere on a track by making adjustments with the jog wheel or manual search buttons. The cue point is stored in the deck’s internal memory until overwritten by a new cue point.
  • Pitch Bend: This is used to either speed up or slow down the tempo of a track for perfect beat mixing, by moving the jog wheel either forwards or backwards.  04/05

PIONEER
The revolutionary DVJ-X1 shows the new way

Pioneer DVJ-X 1The launch of the Pioneer DVJ-X1 brings the future of DJing and audio-visual entertainment here today. The mega-powerful DVJ-X1 allows synchronised digital audio and video to be manipulated and played back like never before, paving the way for a new breed of performer – the DVJ. This new generation of star will combine a DJ’s treatment of audio with the visual skills of a VJ, creating a completely original entertainment experience.

Combining Pioneer’s world-famous CD Jog Dial technology with the flexibility and capacity of DVD, the DVJ-X1 looks just like Pioneer’s own CDJ-1000MK2 CD player. But what’s even more radical is that the DVJ-X1 has the same functionality – with the added capacity to playback DVDs as well as CDs. This means that digital DJs used to performing live with a CDJ-1000MK2 will have no trouble using the DVJ-X1 as a CD-playback tool.

But crucially, DVJs also will be able to use the DVJ-X1 to manipulate DVD visuals in exactly the same way as they would music. So real-time digital video scratches, loops and instant cues are all possible with the awesome DVJ-X1, while the video and audio streams always stay in perfect sync, even when they’re being reversed and pitched. And since a DVD drive has a more advanced, more reliable laser than any CD player, playback quality is assured and maintained in the long-term. In addition, this new Pioneer unit works with all established CD formats as well as most DVD-Video, DVD-R and DVD-RW discs, crossing the boundaries between the once-separate audio and video domains.  08/04

Pioneer CDJ-1000MK2 Digital Deck makes its mark on the DJ Industry

Building on the phenomenal worldwide success of the CDJ-1000 digital deck, Pioneer continues to change the face the DJ Industry with the launch of the CDJ-1000MK2.

Since its introduction, 2 years ago, the CDJ-1000 has achieved industry standard status in clubs, bars and studios all around the world. It is also carried by the world’s finest performers, including Roger Sanchez who says: “With the CDJ-1000, I get the same precision of mixing as I did with vinyl, plus features like looping, Master Tempo and Hot Cues. It’s revolutionized the way I play.” Many other DJ superstars have similar opinions, including DJ Laurent Garnier who claims: “The CDJ-1000 is the only CD turntable worth standing next to a vinyl deck.”

Working as closely as ever with many of these star performers, Pioneer is now taking the art of digital DJing to new heights with the introduction of the CDJ-1000MK2. With the same design and layout as the CDJ-1000, the sleek and polished looks of the MK2 are made unique by the addition of a subtle silver rim on the Jog Dial. But it’s on the inside where the real enhancements have been made.

The latest Jog Dial is fine-tuned to increase sensitivity, creativity and control for DJs, so that cueing, scratching and stretching a track in Vinyl or CDJ mode feels smoother and easier than ever before. And, recognising the importance of manual Pitch bending, Pioneer has made even finer adjustments to the unit’s tempo control function to make it more accurate than ever before. The CDJ-1000MK2 boasts an outstanding internal memory feature too, allowing DJs to store Cue and Loop points as well as Pioneer’s innovative graphical wave data. All of this information can also be saved to a removable Multimedia Card (MMC) – and because this is so popular with DJs, a MMC now comes free with every unit. And to add even more creativity to their sets, DJs can now use the improved Hot Cue function. This instantly memorizes and plays back up to three points per CD (via the A, B or C buttons) and can be used as a mini-sampler for vocals, stabs or breaks.
