SF Marketing Inc. Announces Latest Addition to its Musical Instruments Division
SF Marketing Inc., one of Canada’s leading distributors of musical instruments and accessories, introduced the newest additions to their MI Division at the MIAC 2006 show. As part of their strategy for expansion into the branded accessory market, SF Marketing is proud to announce the arrival of Cleartone ™ guitar strings.
Cleartone Guitar Strings
Tired of always replacing your strings?
Introduced in January 2005, California based Everly Music Company is dedicated to producing innovative products for the active musician. Founded by Phil Everly of the famed 60’s duet The Everly Brothers , the company was one of the first innovators of guitar strings designed for drop tuning, longer lasting guitar strings and guitar picks with grip. Cleartone is their premium brand of treated guitar strings that promises up to five times the lifespan without compromising feel or sound.
Cleartone Treated Strings feature a protective film called EMP – Enhanced Molecular Protection. By bonding to the molecules in the metal, EMP resists corrosion and withstands hard strumming better than coatings thousands of times thicker helping to prolong tonal life. At one micron thin, it is up to one thousand times thinner than coated strings. In fact, EMP treated strings last as long or longer than any other string brand on the market, but feel and sound like an uncoated set. This gives guitarists exactly what they want - killer tone with an incredible lifespan. Guitarists no longer have to compromise between durability and tone. Also, unlike coated strings, the EMP treatment works equally with both acoustic and electric strings.

Furman Announces the SPB-8C Pedal Board
Furman Sound is pleased to announce the successor to their SPB-8 stereo pedal board: the SPB-8C. Building on the original technology, the new pedal board features a hardshell case, more outlets, completely isolated jacks, and ultra low-noise performance for professional musicians.
Featuring solid, robust construction, the SPB-8C is built to last and maintain optimum performance under abusive
on-stage conditions. The durable pedal board consists of a rugged, yet light polycarbonate platform with an extruded aluminum chassis and a 13.75-inch by 26.75-inch Velcro™ sheet. This construction ensures secure, non-slip performance for many effects boxes and pedals.
The SPB-8C's stereo patch bay contains eight 1/4 " switching phone jacks featuring sturdy metal brushings, connected in two stereo loops, allowing a single guitar or instrument input to feed multiple mono and stereo effects boxes, send and return from remote effects, and feed up to two amplifiers simultaneously.
The new pedal board offers two levels of surge and short circuit protection, in addition to Furman's standard level of RFI/EMI filtering, to provide a clean, noiseless signal. The SPB-8C powers DC pedals without hum by utilizing a high-quality toroid transformer. Each DC output is rated at 120 mA, and is individually protected against shorts, guaranteeing that if one output fails, the remaining will continue to function. In addition, the DC outputs are individually isolated, which completely eliminates noisy ground loops. The board also includes four AC outlets, spaced widely enough to accommodate bulky "wall wart" transformers.
Specifically, the SPB-8C features a new durable hardshell case which is large enough to accommodate the pedal board and all attached effects, allowing the musician to keep all pedals and stompboxes connected instead of having to reconstruct at each gig. A retractable handle and inline skate wheels allow for easy transport, while heavy-duty latches ensure the case will remain securely closed when not in use.
The new SPB-8C is available through SF Marketing.

The QR features 9-ply, 7.2mm basswood shells with low density, single-point-of-contact lugs and the Mapex Isolated Tom System (ITS). The QR Series is available in three five-piece configurations. The Standard configuration (QR5254TC) comes with a 22 x 16 bass drum, 12 x 9 and 13 x 10 tom toms, a 16 x 16 floor tom, and a 14 x 5.5 snare drum. QR Series kits also include double-braced Mapex 300-Series Hardware, which contains a boom stand, hi-hat and snare stand, bass drum pedal and padded drummer’s throne. Dealers and consumers will also benefit from the pair of 14-inch hi-hat cymbals and a 16-inch crash cymbal to the QR Series drum set, making it “ready to go,” right out the box.
The QR Series will be available in Spring 2006 in two exclusive sparkle wrapped finishes, Angel Wing and Onyx Sparkle. Later in 2006, a third finish, Crimson Swirl will be added to the product line.
Finally, to help consumers assemble the kit, QR Series also comes with the newly released DVD featuring Mapex Artist, Clinician and Educational Director, Dom Famularo.
