Neutrik introduces several new accessories at Infocomm 2007

Neutrik, designer and manufacturer of the XX series XLR cable connector, introduces several new accessories at InfoComm 2007 (Booth # 8033 ): SCDR, a D-size rear protection cover; BXX-CR, a XX bushing with clear ring; and HTXP, an assembly tool for Neutrik’s XX and PX series.

The SCDR is a soft plastic cover for the rear end of several D-size chassis connectors, such as Neutrik’s PowerCon, Speakon, OpticalCon and XLR. It is used to protect the gap between connector and cable. The protection cover works with all common wires and cables by simply cutting off the cover end to the preferred diameter. The SCDR protects against electric shock when used with D-style connectors including PowerCon, Speakon and XLR connectors; and it offers LC dust protection when used on the OpticalCon chassis connectors

Due to the popularity of its clear coding rings, Neutrik has introduced the BXX-CR for a more cost-effective approach and faster assembly. The accessory kit consists of a black XX boot without the standard XXR coding ring and a clear ring XXCR instead. This saves assemblers time and money, as they do not have to replace the standard ring before assembling the clear ring.

Neutrik’s HTXP hand tool for its XX and PX series is the newest addition to the wide range of assembly tools now offered by the company. The HTXP can either tighten the XX boot or the bushing for the new PX plug series.

“As the industry continues to evolve, we are dedicated to upgrading our products and introducing accessories that make life easier for professional installers,” said Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik USA. “Our cost-effective solutions offer installers simpler assembly and greater efficiency.”

NEUTRIK® EXHIBITS OPTICALCON® AT INFOCOMM 2007

ANAHEIM, CA, JUNE 19, 2007 - Neutrik, designer and manufacturer of the XX series XLR cable connector, continues
to offer innovations in state-of-the-art audio connectivity with the OpticalCon , which will be exhibited at InfoComm 2007 ( Booth # 8033 ). Neutrik has created the OpticalCon in order to increase the reliability and maximize the uptime for fiber optic connection systems.

“Due to OpticalCon’s compatibility with conventional LC connectors, users have the choice of utilizing a cost effective LC connector as a permanent connection, or Neutrik’s rugged OpticalCon cable connector for mobile applications,” said Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik USA. “OpticalCon offers the high quality and durable performance you have come to expect from Neutrik.”

The new system is based on a standard optical LC-Duplex connection; however, the OpticalCon improves this original design to ensure a safe and rugged connection. It enables up to four copper wires to run power or data signals through. A special SMPTE-version1 has been optimized for broadcast applications, which provides an additional ground-shell contact.

In order to create a simplified installation, one can connect a conventional LC-Duplex connector on the rear, which causes the chassis connector to act as a “feed-through.” The OpticalCon cable connector comes pre-assembled with a choice of three mobile field cables, which can be ordered at almost any length.

The OpticalCon features a rugged connection, all metal housing and heavy-duty cable retention. The optical connection cables are protected from dust and dirt through automatic sealing covers and gaskets. OpticalCon uses conventional LC connectors, which are easy to clean, and has a Push-Pull locking mechanism. In addition, the colored labeling plates are included to identify the fiber mode.

Neutrik Unveils the Silent Plug
New Generation Instrument Plug Allows Noise-Free Switching

Neutrik, which has designed and manufactured the industry standard in professional audio connectors, jacks and plugs for more than a quarter of a century, continues to introduce innovative solutions to the audio industry. This tradition continues with the recent introduction of the Silent Plug.

The Silent Plug is the perfect solution for switching an instrument, such as electric guitar, under load without creating the pops or squeals typically associated with plugging and unplugging a cable from an instrument or amplifier jack.

“Performing musicians have always had to endure loud, harsh pops or feedback when switching instruments that are plugged into amplifiers or mixers,” stated Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik USA. “Such noises are jarring to an audience and disrupt between-song transitions, particularly for guitarists who use two or more guitars in the course of a performance. The Silent Plug puts an end to that, allowing silent and seamless transitions between electric instruments.”

With a ¼-inch mono plug that fits into any ¼-inch stereo or mono jack, the Silent Plug features gold-plated contacts, red coating, chuck-type cable retention and the integrated “Silent Switch,” which is hermetically sealed and, due to its “REED technology” –based design, offers unrivalled lifetime durability.

The Silent Plug is available through SF Marketing Inc.

NTI introduces the TalkBox, an acoustical STI-PA Reference Loudspeaker/Generator

NTI introduces the TalkBox, the missing link for the complete evaluation of speech intelligibility in emergency life & safety announcement systems, from the talker’s microphone to the listener’s ear.

Using the TalkBox greatly simplifies the feed of the STI-PA intelligibility test source signal in closed sound reinforcement systems, as it presents the standardized voice-like acoustical signal emission simulating a human talker according to IEC 60268-16, combined with a TNO certified speech intelligibility signal at standardized levels.

The TalkBox features human head-like dimensions and is based on a Solid-State-Generator. It perfectly equalizes the STI-PA test signal and replays it at the precisely correct playback sampling rate, also minimizing systematic errors through the internal amplifier and internal precision loudspeaker.

Due to the required overall accuracy of ±1 dB over the relevant frequency range, each TalkBox is individually equalized and calibrated for precision output. The radiation characteristic complies with the ITU-T P.51 in wide ranges.

The speaker may additionally be muted via an external remote control interface. Other test signals such as Delay Chirp, Polarity Signal, and White and Pink Noise are also available and are fed to the XLR output with flat equalization. A microphone stand thread and a carrying case complete the functionality of the TalkBox.

“The TalkBox is extremely simple to operate and finally completes the entire chain of speech intelligibility measurements. The portable STIPA implementation is gaining more and more popularity and the launch of the TalkBox is the logical step to complete the measurement chain from the talker to the listener.” says Philipp Schwizer, CEO of NTI AG.
